Nima graduated with a masters in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from University of Southampton, she was one of the 6 girls in her cohort. She has just completed her graduate programme and currently working as a project manager in V.Group, one of the largest Shipmanagement organization in the world. She is also a co-founder of BLK Global, one of UK’s top 50 tech start-ups.
Well-educated and equally experienced, Eng. Hessa Ahmed Hamdan Al Malek has been a trailblazer in maritime both regionally and globally. Accomplishing a number of noteworthy achievements on both personal and professional levels, she has paved a path for ambitious women all over the world to follow. Currently, Eng. Hessa serves as the Executive Director of the UAE Maritime sector at the Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime – UAE. With over 20 years of experience in distinctive fields such as urban planning and development, maritime transport, land design and management, and public works, Eng. Hessa is well-versed as it pertains to the ins and outs of the industry.

Her company has since grown into one of the largest full-service law firms and represents not just shipowners, P&I Clubs, Banks, Trading Houses but also every sector every industry, achieving numerous landmark judgments that have revolutionized legal practice in the UAE.

Effat has more than 9 years of experience in different media fields such as PR, Publishing, Event Management, Reporting and TV Script Writing. Effat has a special passion for the maritime sector and is proud to be the youngest Arab Journalist who successfully published more than 500 articles covering different fields within the maritime sector. Effat is also a contributing writer in several UAE newspapers such as Gulf Today and Al-Watn.
Capt. Sahar Rasti, is the UAE’s first Emirati woman to hold such a title. Currently, Rasti is the Chief Executive Officer of SJR General Group (SJR), her own self-founded business. The company’s primary focus is import oriented, as it supplies quality manufactured accessories with a vision of continually enhancing the marine industry. Additionally, SJR also manages a multitude of subsidiaries conducting work related to creating smart home designs, goods and services exporting, and stable management and horse training.
Nicola has worked in the maritime industry for more than two decades. Until November 2018, she was journalism director at IHS Markit, a leading global provider of maritime data, analysis and consulting and the executive editor of Fairplay. Prior to joining IHSM, Nicola was a long-standing member of the Lloyd’s List editorial team and responsible for a number of flagship product launches and was the custodian of the Top 100 listing. She was named Seahorse International Editor of the Year in 2016.
